Sermon: The Coming Messiah
Unfortunately this week you can only listen to half the message - but half a message is better than none. 700 years before Jesus was born in a stable, Isaiah shared a message of both judgment and hope to the people of Israel. Woven throughout his message are countless prophecies about the coming Messiah.
Not only do we gain clarity about the role of the Messiah in chapter 42; those who are seeking to follow Jesus can gain clarity in regard to our work in this world. As the body of Christ, we are to bring both justice and instruction to the world (that's the punch-line that didn't get recorded).
Isaiah 42:4 He will not falter or lose heart until justice prevails throughout the earth. Even distant lands beyond the sea will wait for his instruction.
