ABOUT The BOOK:

Jesus said that the legendary “Kingdom of Heaven” is like a treasure buried in a field. For adventure movie fan, Hunter Mulligan, these parables seem like the perfect invitation to go on a treasure hunt right in his own community. But when Hunter is joined by a crowd of fellow adventurers who are determined to help him find this lost Kingdom, he must learn exactly what Jesus meant when he said that the Kingdom of God is “among you.” Hunter Mulligan and the Lost Kingdom is a treasure hunt through the parables of Jesus. Young readers will enjoy following along with Hunter, seeking out verses in their own Bibles and searching for symbols hidden in the colorful illustrations.

THE BACKSTORY:

Jashton Gieser first had the idea of a treasure hunt for the Kingdom of God back in 2021 while attending school in Queens. His illustration courses allowed him to hone his ideas and produce a set of picture book storyboards. After returning to Castleton, he began his work at ERC as our family ministry coordinator and finally got around to producing final illustrations in the fall of 2024.

Here at Emmanuel Reformed Church, we decided to get behind his project in order to make it available for the families of our church. Our regional Classis and Synod also decided to pitch in and make it available to even more families in the Capital Region. In December 2024 we were able to Self-Publish the book and give it as a Christmas gift to over 75 families.

Today the book is available to anyone who wants it thanks to those who have got the ball rolling on our Pay-it-forward campaign.
